LightPlay SWW Redux
 
 
Part of the Air, Water, Light video installation series, LightPlay SWW Redux plays with lighting effects created by artists, such as performance artist and sculptor Michael Gessner, and lights found in travels to art festivals such as the Biennale in Venice, amusement parks in France, fireworks displays, light sculptures in Washington and Nice, France, and other places where both electric and reflected light effect our perceptions, and at times create optical illusions. Interspersed are memories of the DC magnet high school, School Without Walls video yearbooks spanning 1994-2001, featuring student created scenarios, dance, music and theater performances as well as events such as Spirit Week, International Day and Pep Rallies. Of particular interest are the Penguin attacks of 2000-2001. The video features an original electronic music score by Ruth Stenstrom. Michael Gessner created several back light environments which are highlighted in the video.
