Water Mandalas

 
 

The Mandala is seen as a spiritual, circular art form in Tibet and Native American culture. This work explores how nature creates perfect circles using water as its media and canvas.

Liquidity,” the music for this piece was composed and performed by Kit Watkins in his wet, dark and low album from 1992. You can listen to this and other of his works at his website, www.KitWatkins.com

Inspiration for this work came from a magical trip to Chapel Lake in the Adirondacks in upstate New York with production assistance from Michael Gessner and Denzil Spicer.

This video was premiered the Corcoran Gallery of Art  in October, 2010 as a part of the Synergy exhibit featuring the 2011 Art Fellowship grantees in media and visual arts chosen by the DC Commission on the Arts & Humanities.
